    avete mai visto su Discovery Channel ......
    la trasmissione monster garage....???

    la trasmissione praticamente funziona cosi',........:
    praticamente c'e' un gruppo di pazzi che sono maniaci della trasformazione di qualsiasi macchina,e sono ingegneri, meccanici, designer, maghi degli effetti speciali ecc...., in tutto sono 50 dipendenti, la loro base e' una officina di long beach in california,che funge anche da set televisivo,

    gli autori del programma ogni volta gli danno un budget fisso , e 7 giorni di tempo per modificare e reinventare il modello di automobile che viene scelto ogni volta,..........

    e ' praticamente una scommessa, ed ogni volta devono trasformare le auto x vincere le scommesse,

    praticamente vengono fuori delle cose spaventose,......

              Transition Technique


              In order to turn the VW Beetle into a working swamp boat, the team needed to install an airboat engine; to create the room for this additional engine (no easy feat!), they modified the car's interior, eliminating the rear seat and most of the trunk panels. They then installed the second VW engine, with a small aircraft propeller attached. They also filled the car's body panels with liquid closed-cell foam (and a lot of it), which hardened, providing buoyancy for the vehicle.


              Once its functional transition was complete, the car received a white primer sealer coat, followed by a white base coat. Then the custom painter blended three different orange-pearl base coats and one hot-pink pearl base coat and applied the mixture. Two coats of gold-ice pearl were added, and a clear coat concluded the process.

                MONSTER SPECS


                Hydraulics: Morbark hydraulic pump is Vickers vane style with a 4-gallon ring. It's engine-driven (live hydraulics) at a speed that pumps 6.5 gpm.


                Moving Parts: Morbark Feeder Model #2070 XL Twister
                * Chipper Housing: The lower chipper housing has 1/4-inch sides with 3/8-inch reinforcements for chipper bearings. Sides are drilled and tapped to accept flange bearings. Housing bottom is 1/4 inch from anvil to discharge and 1 inch from anvil to front of housing. The anvil block is 4-inch channel iron. The anvil block and the 1-inch receiving plate before the anvil are reinforced for strength. Anvil is made of 1/2-inch x 4-inch x 10 3/4-inch abrasion-resistant steel with three 5/8-inch mounting bolts. The anvil has four wear sides.
                * Chipper Drum: The drum is constructed of 1/2-inch-thick end plates with a 1/2-inch drum surface rolled to a 20-inch outside diameter. There is one pocket per drum, making one cut per revolution. The pocket carries one knife extending the full width of the drum. The chipper shaft is 2 7/16 inches in diameter; it's stress proof, ground and polished. The finished size of the drum without the shaft is 20 inches in diameter by 10 1/2 inches wide. The drum weighs approximately 250 pounds. Its speed is approximately 2,150 rpm.
                * Knife Holder: The welded knife holder is 1 3/4 inch thick by 5 inches wide by 10 1/2 inches long. The holder is capable of accepting one 1/2-inch x 5-inch x 10 1/2-inch double-edged knife. The knife is attached to the holder using grade 8 3/4-inch NF hex head bolts, four per knife.
                * Bottom Feed Wheel: One 9-inch-diameter by 15 1/2-inch-wide feed wheel with teeth welded to its outer edge provides additional feeding action to the drum. The feed wheel shaft is 1 3/4 inches in diameter, driven by a chain and coupler.


                Special Welds: A sub-frame was built to hold the Morbark chipper's additional weight.


                Additional Acquired or Machined Parts: includes a flame-thrower kit
                * a West Coast Choppers air cooler
                * a hand-fabricated steel chipper feed bin
                * an EAI air-suspension system, which in turn includes an EAI 5-gallon chrome tank, five-switch switch box and 150 PSI VIAR compressor


                Body Modifications: An additional sub-frame was added to the cargo area of the PT Cruiser.

                Biggest Challenges: In the words of the builders, the biggest challenge was "fitting 10 pounds of potatoes in a 5-pound sack." After pillaging a used Morbark 2070 XL Twister wood chipper for working parts, the team had to gut, hack and weld them into the 64.2 cubic feet of PT Cruiser space. Positioning was crucial. A mere 1/4 inch separates the wood-chipping mechanism from the edge of the PT's outer body.
