Alfa Romeo has announced its plans to sell the production version of 4C rear-wheel-drive coupeworldwide, including the United States. The company said that the halo car will bring it back into various markets worldwide where it has no present today.
As reported by autoweek the Italian automaker intends to build around 15,000 – 20,000 units of the 4C coupe over the next five years. The company will also build about 5,000 – 10,000 units of a roadster version of the 4C for Abarth.
The 4C concept was designed by the Turin based design center of Fiat Group. The production version of 4C that will go in to production in late 2012 will be priced at around EUR 45,000 or $62,000 in Europe.
Alfa noted that the final quarter of 2012, when the 4C will be out in the market will be a crucial time for it as the company also plans to introduce the Giulia mid-sized sedan to replace the slow-selling 159. The Italian carmaker will also launch its first ever SUV, a sister model to the Jeep Compass/Patriot replacement.
