Mettiamo un po' de serieta' su sto forum

How To: Clean your undercarage


Need: A free weekend, Jack, 4 jackstands, Pressure washer, Degreaser, Armite 12-34 oil in spray cans, plastic bad w/ rubber band.
Nice to have: Wagner powersprayer; a galon jug of Armite 12-34 for the sprayer.

-Start by jacking your car up, and plopping it on some jackstands, removed all four tires and exhaust from ---B-pipe back.
-Cover the open exhaust pipe w/ plastic.
-Start up your pressure washer and crawl under there on your back; have at it.
-Now spray degreaser on anything and everything except your engine belts, and obviously don't get it on your ext. paint.
-Start your pressure washer back up and rinse, make sure you don't leave any degreaser behind; you'll be sorry if you do (fades out anything shiny, leaves white sh*t on aluminum).
-Now repeat above process with your rims / tires.
-Your done for today, let it sit out overnight and completely dry on the jackstands. (rims / tires go in garage to dry duh...)
-Next day, time to oil'er up. Spray 12-34 oil on anything on the undercarage except engine belts. Susp., exhaust, just friggin everywhere. Any holes on the underside stick your 12-34 tube up to them and spray until oil leaks back out. (Powersprayer takes a lot less time, but cans work too. Don't be worryed about it dripping down on the pavement / driveway, it goes away after a bit (2 weeks) and will not stain. You will have puddles of this sh*t under the car.)
- With the undercarage sprayed with 12-34, the can of 12-34 you will need get puts to use. Open both dorrs, driver and passenger. There are little tiny drain holes on the bottom side of them, stick the tubes of the spray can up in there and squirt away untill it leaks back out.
-Got it good and coated? Your done for the day, let the car sit out again and drip off the excess oil and the rest will dry.
-Next day put your wheels / tires back on that you tire shined and drop her down from the stands.

You car is good for 6 months. This process (if you decide to do it at all) should be done just before winter (northern states) reguardless whether it is driven or not. And again just before summer hits. Keep it up and it will stay factory fresh for a long-long time.

Below is last fall before entering hibernation for the winter.
