I loved the first Mass Effect and it is one of my favorite games ever because it was one of the few games I was hyped up for that managed to not only live up to the hype, but exceed my expectations. I enjoyed 2, but I found it to not be any sort of RPG and more or less Gears of War with dating sim elements. If ME1 is a masterpiece and ME2 a solid cover-shooter dating-sim hybrid, then ME3 is a crime against humanity. While ME1 had some of the greatest writing ever in a video game and manage to capture a various number of emotions from the player, ME3 has some of the worst writing and tries to get a cheap tear or two for a random kid who was too stupid to come with Shepard. One of the big selling points of the trilogy was that your choices from ME1 and 2 would effect 3. Sadly this isn't the case as none of your choices matter. Not even at the end. The ending is by far one of the worst in history. Not only do none of your choices matter, but they blatently rip off of the original Deus Ex in two ways: First is that all three of the ending types to ME3 are identical to those of Deus Ex to the point where it isn't even funny. Second is that you pick your ending right at the end just like in Deus Ex. Where the first 2 games had a lovable cast of characters in your party, ME3 has Garrus and only Garrus. Don't expect to bro it up with Wrex like in ME1 or kill guys with Legion or Mordin like in 2, pretty much all of the party members from the first two games are just NPCs that die. The game is also very short when compared to 1 and 2 and is so easy, a monkey could beat it on Normal without any sort of difficulty or a person with Down's Syndome could win on "Hard" without breaking a sweat. The only good thing ME3 has going for it is ironically the tacked on and outsourced multiplayer, its tons of fun but it does not justify purchasing this game. As a fan of the first two games, I will mourn the series because it had so much potential only to be ruined by EA/Bioware wanting to cater to new players in 3. RIP Mass Effect, you should have been a stand alone title. ;_;
